"Children" by Joan Adams Burchell

Two Poems (copyright)

A Child's Trust

Children at the seashore building
castles in the sand,
Waiting for the tide to come
and up upon the land.
Their castles will not crumble. They'll
be still seen in the morn
For they were built with love, you see,
just as the child was born.

A Child's World

The children's playground at the park
is a wondrous place to be
Watching as they swing and slide,
singing merrily;
And in the sand box they create
an artist's greatest prize -
The world they see, as it's meant to be,
but only half the size.
Why can't we see the way they do
and make the world more free
Getting on with neighbours as we
ought to be?
There isn't any enemy. They all
get along.
Their world in the sand is harmony
- peace, with nothing wrong.
