Wonders of the Moon

The night is garbed in grandeur

as the moon lights up the sky;

It heightens all humility

as it kisses both heart and eye.

Its heavenly splendour shimmers

midst a spectacle of stars;

Reflections move the senses and

romance soars on past Mars.

Humbled by the beauty of that

moon, just hanging there,

We tiny creatures gaze in awe

with silent, honoured stare.

Ordinary landscapes are

sculpted lavishly

By Nature's rhythmic prelude

to perpetuity.

February Moon

A full, round, harvest moon

arose in the cold winter sky;

The dark-orange beauty paled to white

before it rose up high.

In February's Canadian frigid cold,

we don't often just stand and stare.

Tonight was different - it was Winter art,

and Nature painted with care.

No cold alert, no frosty wind

kept the canvas from my fix;

I watched as the sky turned to midnight blue

at only half-past six.

I've written tales of the wondrous moon

and tonight is no exception;

It looks down, gowned in all its glory -

pure, utter perfection.

Our Moon

Glorious moon, so round and white;

Thank you for smiling on me tonight.

You look so cold in the winter's dark sky

But your radiance leaves me with a warm sigh.

A perfect end to a wonderful day;

There are no new words I can think of to say.

I think I've said them all before

But tonight - it just seems so much more!

Winter's snow upon the ground;

'Your' radiance lighting all 'round.

I know my loved-ones see you, too;

That thought warms me through and through.

You make the distance between them and me

Non-existant - just how it should be;

The miles melt and disappear

For you shine your light on all I hold dear.

Round and glorious winter moon;

Stay awhile - don't leave too soon.

Hearts need warming on this cold night;

Your love shines down and holds us tight.

Romance of the Moon

What do you see when you look at the moon -

one that is round and full?

How do you keep your heart in your chest

as it beats to a gravity pull?

Where are your thoughts as you melt away

into the spectacle of night?

Who do you wish was there with you

as you view the miraculous sight?

If you have answers to all the above,

nature has accomplished her goal;

The wonder-of-the-moon has silently opened

the window of your soul.

Reaction to the Moon

A full, painted moon hangs low in the sky

giving a warm, orange glow;

a harvest moon brings memories

of lovers, long ago.

Two hearts beat as one, romance filled the air

while the painted moon looked on;

Young couples stored their moments in time

for when the moon was gone.

But the harvest moon kept coming back

and, so, in fifty years

A heart will feel the glow that warmed

through laughter and through tears.

Time never closes on good memories

and on love that was shared by two

And the moon never stops romancing us -

that's what it is meant to do.

The Secret Moon

The birth of the moon was slow but sure,

aloft in the indigo sky.

Ripples, like sand upon the shore,

moved slowly right on by.

The full-round moon, clothed in haze,

peeked out for me to see

Tonight's softly-glowing candle

look down and wink at me.

Encore

Why do the stars burn every night?

Why does the moon fill the night with light?

Why does the sun warm the earth through day,

And why does it help melt our troubles away?

Without the stars, hearts wouldn't dance;

Without the moon, we would lack romance;

Without the sun, our earth would be cold -

No soft strokes of colour blending with bold.

Why can we picture these things in our mind

When outwardly, to them, we all seem blind?

Because at some time we've felt or seen,

And beauty is a curtain call from that scene.

Mystery of the Heavens

Stars dance 'round a full, white moon

on a sky of midnight blue;

Art, so astronomical -

a truly magnificent view.

Mysteries of our universe

are there for us to see

As the canopy of heaven opens,

capturing heart and soul of me.

Optical Photo

Heavenly bodies light up the sky

on a background of midnight blue,

Like diamonds on rich velvet,

placed perfectly for our view.

The night is clear, the canvas bold;

the lens in my eyes align.

I capture the vision, hold it close to my heart -

another piece of heaven is mine.

Heart's Bridge

Misty moon so round and full,

looking down on me,

You shed your light through the cloud

so all around can see.

Capturing the human heart,

mysterious you'll always be,

Bridging the gap of time and space

through all eternity.
