Music in the Air
Music is in the air today -
just a glorious summer morn;
The grass is shining with morning dew
and reminders of last night’s storm.
The birds are singing; children playing;
and gardeners happy to see
How rain revived their flowers again -
those thought ‘twas all would be.
Today is a day to make something smile -
pull some weeds, trim a bush or a tree;
Sunshine and showers go hand in hand -
But the sun is so good to see!
I guess there is a reason,
though I’ve never quite figured it out -
Why doesn’t the rain come though the night;
the sun all day round-a-bout?
I’m sure it’s because we need to rest
from heavy outdoor work;
Tomorrow is another day
and our duties inside we won’t shirk.
Make music sing in the air today -
raise our voices and sing like the birds;
Anyone can hum the tune
if we don’t know the words.
Doing whatever we love to do
will make the sun shine long.
Music is in the air today -
a day to rejoice with song.
