It Lights The World

The sun’s radiance lights up the world
after so much darkness and rain;
It lights up a heart that was lonely - apart -
and takes away the pain.

Sunshine is contageous, too -
what one sees, they pass along;
Soon, everyone feels brighter and glad -
sunshine makes us strong!

Imaginations rise and soar
and we think of good things to do;
We sing as we work, whether outside or in -
and hear the neighbours, too.

Sunshine is nature’s laughter -
bringing joy to everyone;
Sad things don’t seem to matter
and worries fade to none.

Colours are brighter and cheerier
when the sun is shining down;
Everything “bright and beautiful” -
God’s palette spills love around.

Overflowing

Blueberry and vanilla cream
escorted the sun this morn;
Each colour lightened as the orange ball rose -
a brand new day was born.

It made a graceful entrance
so no one could be sorry
To have risen early and watched with awe -
the morning’s wondrous glory.

Everything was hushed and still -
watching the curtain rise;
The morning’s stage held drama -
today’s first surprise.

After the clouds slide along the sky
and hide the colours from view;
The autumn day becomes dreary and cold,
You feel blessed to have seen it all new.

Be happy for others - for behind those clouds -
someone else is witnessing the sun;
It’s sharing and caring and knows its power
to paint smiles on everyone.

Whatever the rest of the day may bring -
your heart was filled at daybreak;
It overflows and you share with all -
’Your sunshine smiles' heal heartache.
